Summer is almost here!! Make sure you have the proper tissue paper bag to send tissue samples to the lab. Please fill out the tissue form in full and properly list the growth stage. The more information you put on the form the better the agronomist can interpretate the results.
If you are taking a pre-sidedress nitrogen sample, remember that the data is based on a 12" sample. Mark the N1 package for that test.
We are here to assist you if you have any questions.
Regarding the questions we’ve been receiving lately about tissue sampling.
When collecting leaf samples, aim for material that represents what you want to evaluate. Avoid mixing plants of different ages, varieties, or vigor levels in the same sample. Do not include tissue that is dusty, contaminated by insects, birds, or other debris.
If foliar fertilizers have been applied, allow about two weeks before sampling so the spray does not artificially elevate readings.
Remember that some crop protection products also contain elements such as Zn, Cu, S, Ca, or B, which can influence test results.
If you happen to send recently sprayed, let us know so we can take that into account during interpretation.
Have a safe summer season.
